plasma glucose
1.FPG < 5.5mmol/L
• diabetes unlikely
• retest after three years
2.FPG ≥ 7mmol/L
• diabetes likely
• repeat FPG unless diagnosis
unequivocal
3.FPG 5.5-6.9mmol/L
• diabetes possible
• perform oral GTT
• retest annually
